You know, desire-based laundering of either variety could easily be made legal in a system that uses plot/fate points - blow a point to convert OOC information into a stroke of intuition or whim of fate. _________________ Okay, this is why evolution is bunk. | Yeah, but isn't half the point of these articles to describe, er, extralegal techniques? Gaming outside the game, and all that? |

I think Call of Cthulhu generally benefits from Information Laundering - esp the campaign in question. When i ran it the body count was about 1 investigator per session, with a total 36 PCs either mentalised or brutalised out of the game....
Worked well to forward the game its a great policy to turn a blind eye to. |

GM-Desire Based Laundering
This is information laundering which the GM has little reason to complain about, because it helps the game along. For example, if the books that the detective finds in the example for desire based laundering has information the GM was counting on the players picking up on, he's not going to complain when the historian's player makes that phone call.
The trick here is to make sure that every instance of information laundering looks less like cheating and more like "fudging" to help the GM's adventure flow smoothly. |

With regards to the sitting in the back room vs the maturity technique, it's really just as irritating to be sitting at the table for 4 hours whilst the other players make stupid mistakes that you can't help with because you're not there. Especially when it involves you traveling about 100 miles to see your old RP group because the GM wants your character to be in a session. _________________ ________________________________
